Halfway Through The Whole30!
So Today is the 16th day I have been doing the Whole30. Let me tell you, it sucks! I have yet to feel any change in my body other than hunger and the desire to binge on every food once I complete this challenge. I think that it would work if I didn’t already have a limited diet and have a larger knowledge of healthy foods than normal people. Plus I have a long history of eating disorder and this triggers all of it. I do not think this is exactly healthy for an athlete like myself. Reason being:
1. I typically don’t eat sugar ever and am already very aware that it is in everything. I like to use natural sweeteners like Stevia or Monk Fruit. These are fine and natural, but not allowed on the Whole30. So I have CONSTANT sugar cravings that are never satisfied.
2. I can’t just eat only 3 meals a day. I workout twice a day and am a bodybuilder. I can’t just unwind everything my healthy lifestyle already was for some challenge. I have to snack constantly on this and tend to actually just have real meals. Three meals a day is not a healthy way for me to eat and honestly I have been starving no matter what or how much I eat on this diet.
3. I’m a coffee person, normally I drink it with almond milk or black with stevia…Nope. Not healthy enough apparently on this. So I drink it black which is fine, if I wasn’t using coffee to curb my sugar cravings.
4. I eat about 400 calories from fruit a day just to tame my sweet tooth. It never works so I keep eating it until I’m bored. This means I’m getting about 100g of natural fruit sugar a day. Where as before I was getting 30g of sugar by having stevia in coffee to curb cravings.
5. I am just grumpy and miserable. I have a worse time sleeping if anything. My skin is actually worse. And I perform worse in the gym.
So maybe there will be better results the other half of this diet. I feel like I am being so negative but it is really making my past eating disorders come back. The feeling of restriction sucks.
The good news is I do love getting creative with the few foods I can eat. I have made some AMAZING meals that I honestly normally would eat just sans like, one ingredient.
Look for more updates soon. But I’ll go back to my black coffee with coconut water in it.
